A Unique Retreat

Reviews

A lovely little place to stay on Lismore. Very peaceful and with everything you could need. The cottage is lovely, really warm and well equipped. The views are fantastic and Julie is so accommodating and reactive. The speed of the WiFi is quite incredible. My family are all now keen to come and stay later in the year after I've explained how nice it is.

Our stay at Balure was absolutely amazing, everything and more than we’d dreamt of over the months after booking. The house itself is spot on with all we needed, and the location is everything you come to Lismore for; it’s quiet with superb views of the Broch, it’s sufficiently central to make the island very accessible on foot (or bike if you wish). We were gifted with excellent weather and a starry sky to wonder at with views of the Milky Way. Our hosts Julie and Andrew were the loveliest people you’re likely to meet, friendly, helpful and so accommodating. Quite by coincidence we were at the post office just off the ferry and talking to someone, Andrew overheard us mention Balure, introduced himself and guided us there, opening the gates on the way, great guy. I would say it’s a home from home but getting back home to Derbyshire and the rat race of the M1, Balure is paradise. I would definitely recommend Balure if you’re looking at Lismore. Do it, you won’t regret it

We had really nice time at Julie’s and Andy’s place. Julie helped us to buy grocery since we did not have a car - that’s was super helpful🙏🏻. Also, she recommended us a farm which delivered frozen meat to our Airbnb home. All this made our stay very nice. Thanks a lot Julie for renting us your nice house.

Very comfortable house with amazing views. The kitchen was very well equipped and it was lovely to have coal and logs included. Best thing for us was the central location - we felt that we definitely explored much more of the island than if we had been staying up at Point, for example. Julie was also very helpful with advice on booking the ferry and the food shop before coming over - very grateful for that!

Very quiet and peaceful location. Hosts welcoming and very responsive. Nice outside area for children to play but just be aware that young ones need to be supervised as it is close to a working farm. We would happily go back.

This accommodation is in a truly stunning place, with beautiful views out over the Broch and fields full of sheep and frolicking lambs as well as the occasional hare. The house was very warm and inviting, with lots of charming details, perfect for a peaceful holiday. We were especially excited about the kitchen which is fully equipped with anything one could possibly need to cook some amazing meals. This is also a good place to explore the island by foot, as the post office and heritage centre are only about a 30min walk away. We were very glad to have spent our honeymoon in this amazing place and look forward to returning in the future.

Large, roomy, clean and comfortable house with excellently equipped kitchen. Great walks from the door. Lots of interesting places to explore on the island. We loved the hares in the garden!
